Mentoring. Supporting. Caring.
"Art and self-expression are integral to any enlightened society, and it is essential to support those who enrich us with their talents. Young singers need time and support in order to fulfill their potential.
Career Bridges has shown its dedication to the art of opera by providing young artists much needed assistance in their endeavors."
---The Honorable Michael R. Bloomberg, Mayor of New York City
Our Mission
Career Bridges' mission is to provide innovative, practical, top-quality professional counsel, training, and performance opportunities to gifted young singers as they prepare to launch their professional careers.
We Mentor
Since its inception in 2002, Career Bridges has mentored 54 grant winner singers in our three year mentoring program. We have provided a bridge from the world of the classroom to the professional community for these artists, many of whom are now well on their way to productive singing careers.
"Career Bridges is a wonderful institution . . . so essential to young singers, because it's that important step between being a student and being a professional that is the hardest step to achieve in this business."
--- James Morris, Metropolitan Opera Bass 2005 Recipient of the Career Bridges Distinguished Achievement Award
We Support
Based on the recommendations of a 25-member panel comprised of internationally recognized experts in repertory and vocal coaching, conductors, stage directors , managers and agents, opera company impresarios, etc., Career Bridges provides three years of grants to each individual based on the recommendations of the panel. These grants include coaching in diction, language, repertory, and stage deportment. Further grants include career guidance, performance opportunities, opera workshops and assistance in career promotion.
"I am so grateful for the support and guidance you have provided. Career Bridges has made my start possible!"
--- Yonghoon Lee, 2005 Career Bridges Grant Winner
"Career Bridges has been a 'saving grace' that has provided coaching opportunities and support from the professional community. Their collaboration has made me more skilled, stronger, and more confident. For that I am infinitely grateful."
---Raymond Diaz, 2003 Career Bridges Grant Winner
We Care
Each Career Bridges grant winner is eligible for grants for a total of three years and is reevaluated by the panel annually. During these three years we provide counseling, paid performance opportunities, concerts and school performances, and workshops in which our winners get their most valuable training, in that they bring to life on the stage what they have learned in the studio. These performances are mentored by our artistic staff and panel members.
"You have very good singers . . . beautiful voices . . . the beautiful quality made from God . . . we must care about and help these beautiful singers."
--- Licia Albanese, legendary soprano, Founder of the Puccini Foundation,
2004 Recipient of Career Bridges Distinguished Achievement Award
