Charles Riecker
Member Board of Directors & Panel of Experts

Charles Riecker retired from the Metropolitan Opera in the spring of 1997, leaving behind a remarkable career which spanned nearly four decades. Prominently as Artistic Administrator (domestic and foreign). He worked closely with the development and execution of television and recording projects, the pioneering of outdoor concerts; fund raising and special programming. He continues to work with the opera's national auditions program. In addition he is guest lecturer throughout the United States, Europe and Japan, and teaches privately in Manhattan.

He is married to Wally Cleva, daughter of the late conductor Fausto Cleva, whose association with the Metropolitan lasted more than twenty years.

One of the members of our board said, "I watched him teach a master class, and was so impressed with his ability to communicate . He spoke to them as an equal. He did not treat them as idiots but as a supporter of intelligent, hardworking professional singers. It was clear to see that he Ýwas and is committed to assisting them to reach their full potential.

"He is the best friend a singer ever had."
